Swimwear Labels and Packaging Checklist
Organize swimwear item identity, label evidence, language versions and packaging for sets or separately sold pieces.
01
Decide whether pieces are sold together
A bikini set, a separate top and a separate bottom need clear selling-unit definitions. Identify component styles, their sizes and the buyer-assigned item references. For a mixed-size set, record both sizes. Do not let a single set-size field conceal a pairing that differs from the retailer's intended offer.
02
Build factual label content from verified records
Link composition wording to the actual material data, and care wording to its supporting basis. Keep origin review connected to the proposed production route. US FTC guidance covers textile-label and care-label topics; EU guidance covers composition and destination languages. Use the correct destination review rather than copying the label from a reference garment or another country version.
03
Align the garment label and retail pack
For each selling unit, record label artwork, pack artwork, size wording, contents and assigned barcode data. Clarify who supplies the identifiers and approves the files. Keep detachable accessories or separate components visible in the pack description. If the buyer changes the top-and-bottom pairing, reopen the related item-data and artwork decisions.
04
Check the market file before release
Keep a record of the label reviewer, artwork revision, physical pack sample and carton instruction. Compare actual contents with the approved data and verify that the relevant information can be read in the proposed presentation. Add the product-specific regulatory and testing requirements from the responsible reviewer. This guide helps organize the file; it is not a complete legal checklist for every swimwear market.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Using a set identifier for a separately sold component without buyer confirmation.
- Copying a destination label without checking language and product data.
- Updating component sizes without updating the pack description.
Technical and regulatory references
Check the scope for your product and destination. These references do not establish certification, approval or test results for a DALI product or factory.
- FTC textile and wool labeling guidance
United States textile-label information; confirm the applicable product and exceptions.
- FTC Care Labeling Rule
United States care-label requirements and the basis for care instructions.
- Your Europe textile-label guidance

Frequently asked
Buyer questions
01Can tops and bottoms have different sizes?
Record the exact pairing if they are sold as a set. If sold separately, keep separate rows and buyer item references.
02Does this guide establish market conformity?
No. Use it to organize records, then obtain the product-specific review and supporting evidence for the destination.
From preparation to development
Discuss the questions that remain open.
Use the guide to organize the information you have, then discuss your product and estimated bulk requirement with DALI. A complete worksheet or technical pack is not required for the first conversation.
