Apparel Label Data Checklist

Build a label approval record that separates verified product data, destination wording, artwork and attachment details.

01

Start with the actual product and destination

Create one label record for each style and relevant market version. List the country of sale, item type, fiber-data source and proposed production origin. Keep brand wording separate from factual declarations. A reference garment can show layout, but its composition, origin and care instructions do not establish the information for a new order.

02

Separate US and EU review questions

FTC guidance identifies fiber content, origin and responsible-business identity as key US textile-label topics. Its Care Labeling Rule also addresses care instructions and their basis. EU guidance addresses fiber composition and destination languages. These are different checks: approving an English artwork file does not establish suitability for every European destination.

  • Ask the buyer or importer to identify the market-specific requirements and responsible reviewer.
  • Keep confirmed material data and the basis for care wording with the artwork record.

03

Use a label master instead of scattered emails

Record the exact text, language version, label type, dimensions, position, attachment method and revision. Link size-label wording to the approved size chart. If the material composition changes during development, reopen the relevant label decision. An artwork approval should identify the file and revision accepted, so the same reference guides labels and production.

04

Check a physical label and retail pack

Print or produce a review sample at the proposed dimensions. Check readability, orientation, position and whether folding or packaging hides required information. The US care rule addresses visibility when products are packaged; verify the arrangement with the responsible reviewer. Record discrepancies as corrections, then keep the approved physical reference and file together. This worksheet organizes the review but does not certify compliance.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Copying origin or composition from a competitor label.
  • Translating branding but leaving factual label fields unchecked.
  • Keeping an approval after the underlying material has changed.
Technical and regulatory references

Check the scope for your product and destination. These references do not establish certification, approval or test results for a DALI product or factory.

Frequently asked

Buyer questions

01Can DALI use my existing approved label artwork?

Share it with the product and destination details. Confirm that the factual content still matches this order, then check positioning and attachment on the sample.

02Is buyer approval alone proof of legal compliance?

No. An approval is a workflow record. Applicable requirements, factual accuracy and supporting evidence still need review by the responsible businesses and specialists.
