Sourcing guidance

Prepare a destination-specific buying brief

01

Build the range around the buyer's selling units

Define underwear styles and multipacks, sock constructions and pair packs, babywear size ranges, or coordinated sleepwear and swimwear. Connect the local size label with measured specifications and sample objectives. DALI also develops fabrics and elastic components; material purchases need composition, construction, width and quantity units rather than only a finished-garment reference. Separate a continuing replenishment line from a seasonal collection when giving the volume estimate.

  • Product, material or component specification
  • Measured sizes and retail selling units
  • Initial order and replenishment assumptions
02

Separate requirements for Great Britain, Northern Ireland and Ireland

Identify where the goods will be sold, the importer and the delivery address for each allocation. Do not use the buying office's address as a substitute for this information. Review the applicable textile guidance and the buyer's approved wording, then connect language, composition and pack versions with the correct destination. Shared product development does not remove the need to confirm destination-specific product and shipment requirements.

  • Country of sale and destination-specific quantities
  • Importer details and approved label wording
  • Item references, pack version and carton instructions
03

Review supplier evidence alongside the proposed operation

Send the retailer or brand's supplier manual, required workplace assessments, material claims and testing protocol. DALI identifies the proposed manufacturing operation and relevant records for review. Factory audits, management-system documentation and actual product test reports have different scopes. Confirm the material evidence for organic or recycled-content wording separately from the inspection criteria for the finished garment.

  • Named production site and buyer approval requests
  • Material-document scope and proposed product claims
  • Inspection stages, test methods and required reports
04

Work back from the launch date and sample decisions

Provide the collection launch, requested delivery window and sample decision dates. Label artwork, packaging, material approval and any testing need to fit that plan before bulk release. If a gift pack or coordinated set is involved, define the complete selling unit and carton allocation rather than treating packaging as a later cosmetic change. Production timing, shipment terms and receiving instructions are agreed for the actual order.

  • Launch and delivery dates with destination
  • Sample, material and artwork approval milestones
  • Retail pack, set pairing and receiving instructions

Working files for your destination

Use the working files to organize the information you have. Add the buyer manual, artwork and technical references where available; missing details can be identified during the initial review.

Connect supplier review with the proposed production site

DALI's China and Cambodia network brings together materials, garment and sock manufacturing. The team reviews the proposed operation, sampling scope and production requirements for the product. Factory workplace assessments, material records and product test results address different buying questions.

Technical and regulatory references

Check the scope for your product and destination. These references do not establish certification, approval or test results for a DALI product or factory.

References checked .

Destination notes support procurement preparation, not a complete compliance determination. Confirm current requirements for the actual product, supply stage, origin and country of sale with your buyer and qualified advisers. Import treatment and production timing are agreed for the proposed order.

Frequently asked

Buyer questions

01Can one collection serve UK and Irish destinations?

A common collection can be reviewed with separate destination allocations. Record the countries of sale, importer, quantities, artwork and pack versions, and have the applicable product and shipment requirements confirmed for each destination.

02Can I begin while the collection is still being developed?

Yes. Send the intended products, estimated bulk volume, destination and launch window, with sketches or references where available. Identify what must be decided through sampling. Small-batch production is not offered; sampling supports the proposed bulk order.

03Can supplier records be reviewed before final product approval?

Share the supplier manual and required records early. DALI can review the proposed operation and relevant factory or material documents while development continues. The order's product tests and inspection plan are agreed against the actual specification.
