Underwear Size, Color and Quantity Matrix
Build a complete underwear order breakdown with explicit size and color rows, subtotals, selling units and approval status.
01
Choose one row identity
For single garments, use style, color and buyer size as the row identity. Add a unit column so garment quantities cannot be mistaken for packs. For multipacks, use the selling-unit code and a separate component breakdown. Keep quantity status visible: estimate, proposed or approved. A draft matrix helps an inquiry but is not a released order.
02
Use a full assortment example
The example below contains one hypothetical brief style in three sizes and two colors. Black has 2,000 S, 3,000 M and 2,000 L garments, totaling 7,000. White has 1,000 S, 2,000 M and 2,000 L garments, totaling 5,000. The entire style therefore totals 12,000 garments. These numbers illustrate reconciliation, not a DALI MOQ.
03
Check the totals in more than one direction
Size totals are 3,000 S, 5,000 M and 4,000 L garments. Their sum must equal the color subtotal and the style total. A missing row should be marked not ordered or unresolved, not silently interpreted as zero. If a price is based on total volume, confirm how style, material, color and size splits affect the actual commercial proposal.
04
Control revisions before packing
Add the matrix revision, date and approval contact to your working file. Link each style to its measurement and material references. If the buyer changes M quantities, update the total and any pack or carton calculations. Reconcile the final matrix against the quote and purchase order before release. The Excel workbook keeps garment and pair totals separate and calculates set or pack contents when the relevant inputs are supplied. Retain the confirmed order revision.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Relying on an overall total without size and color allocation.
- Mixing pack quantities with garment quantities in one column.
- Updating line quantities without updating the quote or packing record.

Frequently asked
Buyer questions
01Can I use this matrix for multipacks?
Use a selling-unit row for each pack and add its component breakdown. Derive garment totals from the pack contents rather than mixing units.
02What should an empty size row mean?
Define it explicitly. An empty cell may mean unresolved, not zero, so mark sizes that are deliberately not ordered.
From preparation to development
Discuss the questions that remain open.
Use the guide to organize the information you have, then discuss your product and estimated bulk requirement with DALI. A complete worksheet or technical pack is not required for the first conversation.
