Sock Sample Feedback: Fit and Packaging

Review sock fit, pattern, yarn and retail packaging with separate observations, references and correction decisions.

01

Identify wearer, sample and reference

Record style, sample revision, buyer size reference and the wearer or fit context. Keep a photograph of the sample and the material reference. A sock may look correct on a flat surface but sit differently on a foot or leg. State the condition in which each observation was made instead of combining flat dimensions and wearer feedback into one result.

02

Review each area with a specific question

Check cuff, leg, heel, toe, foot length and any cushioning against the agreed brief. Record where a fit observation occurs and whether it relates to length, position, surface feel or pressure. If a dimension matters, use the agreed method and unit. Do not prescribe a universal cuff-pressure or stretch value from a visual inspection.

03

Separate material and artwork approvals

Identify the yarn or material version used in the sample, then compare the pattern, logo orientation and color references. A temporary yarn should remain visible as a qualification even if the artwork is approved. When the material changes, ask which fit or performance checks need to be repeated. Keep any requested laboratory evaluation separate from a subjective handfeel comparison.

04

Review packing as its own workstream

Check pair matching, selling-unit contents, folding and attachment with the buyer packing instruction. Give each correction a photo reference, responsible contact, target review date and recheck status. A packaging approval does not close a heel-position issue. The example below demonstrates separate comments so the team can revise the right part of the project.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Calling the sample approved while its yarn remains temporary.
  • Mixing pair count and individual-sock count.
  • Recording a fit complaint without the sample size or wearer context.
Technical and regulatory references

Check the scope for your product and destination. These references do not establish certification, approval or test results for a DALI product or factory.

Frequently asked

Buyer questions

01Should fit and pack comments use the same approval?

Keep them separate. They can be reviewed together, but the decision should identify what is approved and what remains open.

02Does the sample prove a performance claim?

Not by appearance alone. Agree the required evaluation and supporting evidence for the specific claim.

From preparation to development

Discuss the questions that remain open.

Use the guide to organize the information you have, then discuss your product and estimated bulk requirement with DALI. A complete worksheet or technical pack is not required for the first conversation.
