Sleepwear Fabric and Season Planning
Specify sleepwear by wearer, season, construction and sample checks rather than choosing only a fiber name.
01
Describe the use before selecting a material
Name the wearer, destination, intended season and garment format. Distinguish a short pajama set, a long set and a robe; their fit, surface feel and packing needs differ. For children's products, resolve the intended sleepwear classification with the responsible reviewer before treating material selection as a purely aesthetic decision.
02
Compare swatches using the same questions
Record composition, knit or woven construction, weight, finish, color reference and the proposed care requirements. Ask what the buyer values most: a smooth surface, stretch, drape or a particular weight. Fiber names alone cannot establish the finished result. Compare identified swatches side by side and preserve their codes so a selected development material is not confused with a later substitution.
03
Plan evaluation around the finished product
Choose sample questions before requesting a garment: fit, opacity, seam comfort, print appearance or changes after agreed laundering. Record the method and acceptance criteria with the reviewer. A fabric home-laundering method is not automatically the complete finished-garment protocol. Keep material and garment results separate, including the color and finish to which each result applies.
04
Connect the selection to retail presentation
Use the actual sample and folding arrangement to compare folded packs, hanger presentation or gift boxes. Record which garment pieces form one selling unit. A bulky robe and a lightweight set should not inherit the same box dimensions by default. Mark the selected material, sample objective and pack format in the worksheet, then agree the project-specific availability, minimum quantity and commercial terms with DALI.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Equating cotton with a guaranteed feel or shrinkage result.
- Selecting packaging before the folded sample is measured.
- Assuming adult and children's sleepwear have the same review requirements.
Technical and regulatory references
Check the scope for your product and destination. These references do not establish certification, approval or test results for a DALI product or factory.
- CottonWorks knit-construction fundamentals
Knitted structures and their material-selection context; not a specification for a DALI fabric.

Frequently asked
Buyer questions
01Is fabric weight enough to compare two options?
No. Record construction, composition, finish and sample observations as well. Two fabrics with the same weight can behave differently.
02Can a material be chosen from a photograph?
A photo can communicate appearance, but a physical reference is more useful for handfeel, stretch, drape and opacity.
From preparation to development
Discuss the questions that remain open.
Use the guide to organize the information you have, then discuss your product and estimated bulk requirement with DALI. A complete worksheet or technical pack is not required for the first conversation.
